Courses | Character and Special Makeup Effects Program | Complections International Academy of Make-up Artistry The Character and Special Make-up Effects Artist Program (6 weeks) A six-week course comprised of two-week long courses in theatre, prosthetics, and film and television make-up application. This course is ideal for make-up artists who already have a knowledge of and previous experience with fashion or beauty make-up, who wish to gain a basic knowledge of special make-up effects, character and film make-up techniques. To be accepted into this program, the student must provide proof of employment within the make-up industry for one year prior to their application of admission. This course covers a tremendous amount of information in a very short period of time and there is less time for in-class practice sessions compared to our longer special make-up effects courses. The emphasis in this class is on acquiring technical know-how, not on mastering the techniques during class-time practice sessions. The onus is on the student to practice outside of school and beyond their course completion to truly master what they have been shown by their instructor(s).
